About The Fargo-Moorhead Rotary Foundation
The Fargo Moorhead Rotary Foundation received IRS approval as a 501(c)3 non-profit on January 24, 2006.  The initial purpose was to use the FMRF to help fund the Rotary Centennial Universal Playground located in Fargo’s Lindenwood Park.  The Universal Playground will be totally paid for in the fall of 2010 having total costs (including In-Kind donations) of $265,000.

The four Fargo Moorhead Rotary Clubs (Fargo Rotary, Moorhead Rotary, Fargo West Rotary and Fargo Moorhead AM Rotary) are now raising funds for a Miracle League ball field to be located on 40th Avenue South in Moorhead.  The Moorhead Park Board has donated the land, many grants have been applied for and funds received amount to nearly $100,000.  The Board is seeking In-Kind work from local contractors and suppliers and hopes to break ground in early to mid May 2010.  This project will need to raise an additional $75,000 in pledges before it can become reality.

The FMRF is also used as a source of funds for the joint international projects sponsored by the four Fargo Moorhead Rotary Clubs and their many District 5580 partners.  These partners include Rotary Clubs from:

Bismarck, ND; Central Lakes, MN (Niswau, MN); Detroit Lakes, MN; Dickinson, ND; Duluth, MN; Fergus Falls, MN; Grand Rapids, MN; Grand Forks, ND; Hibbing, MN; Jamestown, ND; Minot, ND; Pelican Rapids, MN; Perham, MN;  Superior, WI; Two Harbors, MN; Wahpeton, ND; Walker, MN & Williston, ND.

Together with our partnering clubs since 2003 we’ve constructed 10 schools, 4 clinics and 8 water projects in Guatemala.  Beginning in 2006, we’ve furnished computers, smart boards, didactic supplies for schools, latrines, libraries and desks for schools in India.  In 2010, D5580 Rotary Clubs are adding two rooms to a school located in Rajapalayam, India that the Rajapalayam Rotary initially built and a Sister Club agreement was signed between the Rajapalayam Rotary and the FM Rotary Clubs certifying that our efforts will continue in this south central region of India for years to come.

Another international project includes 3 water wells to be drilled in the village of Kipanga, Tanzania.  The funding of $18,042 is in place and once the rainy season is finished (in early May) the drilling will begin.  This project is making dreams come true for the residents of Kipanga who’ve had to carry dirty water in jugs on their heads for miles.  This project was conceived by members of Lake Park Lutheran Church who’ve contributed greatly to see this project through.  

Finally, the Fargo Moorhead Rotary clubs are partnering with Duluth Harbortown Rotary to construct a clinic in Bolivia through Mano a Mano, a non-governmental organization that works to further help for those less fortunate.  The work in Bolivia has provided clean potable water for people there as well as clinics and hospitals to advance health care needs.
